Political doctrines and Slinky
The Boy and I were talking about people we knew who really shouldn't occupy the positions they are in because of the whole ability vs requirements issue.
Slinky: "I think at heart I'm a communist. I don't think people should be above me,telling me what to do."
The Boy: "You're a socialist."
Slinky: "No, wait, that implies that everyone should be the same. No, no, it's more like, I don't mind people below me, but I don't want anyone above me. Unless they desrve to be. That's not socialism. That's meritocracy."
The Boy: "No, you do't want anyone above you at all. That's a despot!"
Slinky: "I'm not a despot! Despots don't share! I would be happy to have people at the same level as me. You know, like-minded people, like The Other Cat, and pw and and...erm.. - just as long as the stupid people are below me in hierarchy and not above me like they are now."
The Boy: "You're a despot."
