Someone asked me in one of my classes the other day, "Did you have to learn English before you came here?"
You could have heard the sound of my jaw hitting the floor all the way in Johore, can?

Yeah I know! its amazing what these people come up with. I was on some Firm seminar thing and met fellow associates from Russia who were surprised that I spoke English better than they did. What do they think?? that one can't learn english if one is not white? I found it slightly bizarre

Miss C - the imperialist mindset is alive and kicking. As far as they're concerned, we're the amazing natives who have miraculously learned how to use tools. But to be fair, I sometimes still expect AFricans to live in tribes, to turnabout's fair play, I suppose.
